As you may know if you know me-I love traveling to faraway places that I have never been to before. Photographing other cultures, experiencing their food, the nuances of another city and the friendliness even when you, me, have the ability to chop up a spanish sentence into fifty pieces to the point where I end up using my Google translate. Embarrassing. The laughs I get are priceless.
Anyhow, I have been asked what is my secret to surviving a 12-hour flight? I asked a couple of friends of mine to get their tips and tricks as well.
Ursula: “Bingeing on Podcasts like Pod Save America or Fresh Air. I become my own personal assistant. I fill my Moleskin agenda with to-do lists for stuff I put off until it’s too late.”
Marion: “Books, lots of books.”
Kim: “A Xanax to help with sleep. The kids can be exhausting.”
Me: Compression socks from Danish Endurance. Put them on just before you leave the house. They feel awful at first for sure, (but I wore them when I was pregnant with my third child because I was on my feet all day), comfortable in-flight, and heavenly when you remove upon arrival. Also, get the app Rain Rain Sleep. It comes loaded with a ton of soothing, seriously soothing sounds. Rain on a Tent- a good one.
What makes for a good flight for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
